Behaviour Guidelines
To be a successful we must expect our students to act in an appropriate manner. If students do not behave in an appropriate manner, there will be consequences. For such misbehaviour students will be warned and parents will be called when a student is put on an individual behaviour plan.
Student shows good and cooperative behavior:
What does it mean?
When a student has a positive attitude and behaves in class and helps others.
What happens?
Staff let the student know that their actions are noticed and appreciated.
Disrupting class:
What does this mean?
Every student has the right to learn. When others are disrupting the class, learning is not happening. The following are examples of disruptions:
Talking when the teacher or other students are talking to the class.
Walking around the class disrupting other students.
Making unnecessary noise in class.
Throwing items around the room.
What Happens?
Teachers use behavior strategies
The student is warned to stop such misbehavior and verbally informed & it will not be tolerated in the classroom because it affects other people’s learning.
Student will be sent to see the principal.
Being repeatedly or excessively late for class and leaving classwithout asking:
What does this mean?
There is ample break time for students to retrieve materials, have snacks and plan bathroom breaks throughout the day. Students should not be late for class.
Although there are exceptions, students should be able to take care of necessities during break and come to class prepared.
What Happens?
If a student is habitually late, the situation will be dealt with by the teacher and/or the principal. If necessary, parents will be called.
Bullying students:
What does this mean?
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and comfortable environment. No student has the right to harm or harass another student.
What Happens?
Any student verbally abusing or intimidating another student will lead to provide notification to the parents.
Physical bullying will not be tolerated. Any student caught physically intimidating another student will be suspended for a day.
Swearing:
What does this mean?
There is no need for inappropriate language in a school setting.
What will happen?
If a student uses inappropriate language the situation will be dealt with by teachers and/or the principal. If necessary, parents will be called.
Other Considerations:
Strike, injure, threaten, harass, or intimidate a student, staff member or any other person.
Any object that can reasonably be considered a weapon or looks like a weapon, or any dangerous device.
Damage or threaten to damage another’s property.
Damage or deface school property.
Use of vulgar or obscene language in the school campus/premises.
Bringing items like mobile phone, camera, music player, laptop, video game, tablet non-academic magazines etc.
